Save Gas & Fight Climate Change

December 9 – 15

Why DO We InflatE Tires DURING EARLY WINTER?

As temperature drops, so does tire pressure. This leads to poor gas mileage and increased greenhouse gas emissions.

Low Tire Pressure leads to Poor Gas Mileage leads to Green House Gas Emmisions

Low Temperature Leads to Low Tire PressureĀ

For every 10-degree drop in temperature, a 1-2 lb drop in tire pressure occurs. Tire pressure can fluctuate year-round, especially in the colder weather – it is good to check your tire pressure once a month.

Extend the Life of Your TiresĀ

Driving with low tire pressure creates uneven wear and tear on your tires and leads to poor gas mileage. Tires contain toxic oils and heavy metals that can persist in the environment and accumulate over time, so extending their life as much as possible is good for the environment.

Poor Gas Mileage Leads to Increased GHG EmissionsĀ

When fuel efficiency decreases, GHG emissions increase. In the US alone, driving on low tire pressure contributes to over 4 million gallons of wasted gas per day… that’s over 383 million additional lbs of CO2 in the atmosphere per year!

Help us fulfill Our Purpose to protect
and restore the environment.

Keep your tires inflated to the proper PSI.
