Store Policies -- Check-Writing Policy
It is MOM's policy that customers write their drivers license numbers and addresses on their checks (if they‘re already not printed on them).
After suffering, through the years, the losses of tens of thousands of dollars worth of unretrievable bounced checks, there is FINALLY relief from fraudulent check writers! The County has instituted a new program which almost guarantees that we are able to collect on funds that otherwise would be deemed uncollectible. However, for the County to obtain those funds for us, they require that the checks have an address and drivers license on them.
We understand that the vast majority of our customers have integrity and are honest. It is our policy and ongoing goal to offer great food at the best prices. However, in order for us to maintain our low prices, we must do everything reasonably possible to prevent people from writing fraudulent checks.
We hope this helps you to understand why we ask that all checks have drivers license numbers and addresses on them.
