A twining vine (Humulus lupulus) of the mulberry family with 3-lobed or 5-lobed leaves and inconspicuous flowers of which the pistillate ones are in glandular cone-shaped catkins. This herb has been recommended for nervousness, sleeplessness, tension and stress.
